Questions, answered fast.

What is CapTheFlag?

CapTheFlag is a timed geography quiz for iPhone and Android. You name world flags, countries, capitals and real landmarks. Every question is multiple choice with 15 seconds on the clock, and faster correct answers score more points.

Is CapTheFlag free?

Yes. CapTheFlag is free to download and play. Ads appear between rounds and on menu screens, never during a question. A one-time $2.99 purchase removes ads for good. There is no subscription.

How does scoring work?

Each correct answer scores 10,000 points multiplied by a speed bonus and a mode bonus. The speed bonus starts at 1.0 and falls as the clock runs, down to 0.1 at 15 seconds. Hero chain scores 1.5x and God chain scores 2x. A wrong answer scores 0.

What game modes are there?

There are six: Flag to country (flag to country), Country to flag (country to flag), Capital to country (capital to country), Country to capital (country to capital), Hero chain (flag to country to capital), God chain (photo to country to flag to capital). Hero and God chains link several steps about one country for higher points.

How do I get on the leaderboard?

Sign in with Apple or Google and finish a round. Your best round counts on the board for that mode, level and round length, for this week and all time, worldwide and in your region. Guest rounds are practice and are not ranked.

What do the top 20 players win?

Once a day the global leaderboard is checked, and every player ranked 1 to 20 gets ad-free Premium while they stay in the top 20. No purchase is needed. The official Top 20 rules have the details.

How many countries are in the game?

195 countries, each with its flag and capital. God chain uses 893 landmark photos from 192 countries, sourced from Wikimedia Commons and credited in the app.

Does a slow connection affect my time?

No. Flags and country data ship inside the app, so questions never wait on the network. God chain photos download on a loading screen before the round starts, not during it.

How are ranked scores kept fair?

Every ranked round is checked by our server before it reaches the leaderboard. Scores from bots, modified apps or tampered requests are removed.

Is it good practice for GeoGuessr?

Many geography game players use flag, capital and landmark drills to warm up, and that is what CapTheFlag trains in short rounds. CapTheFlag is an independent app and is not affiliated with GeoGuessr.
